3/4MK

Term 3 Has Been Jam Packed in 3/4MK!
As Term 3 is nearly at a close, it has been a great time to sit and reflect on all the wonderful experiences and learnings we have had this Term. From the beginning of Term with our Museum Excursion to Concert Practices, St John Vianney’s Day, John Hannah House Visit, Swimming, Book Week and so much more to come. Here is a snapshot of our Term.
Literacy
For our knowledge rich curriculum unit, we have been learning about Celebrations in Australia and all around the world. From cultural and religious festivals to family traditions, we have learnt so much and have enjoyed displaying our learnings through our final research projects in which we all chose a different celebration that we still wanted to know more about.
Book Week
Last week we celebrated Book Week. Book Week is a week-long celebration and this year marks the 80th anniversary of the event, with a theme of "Book an Adventure!". The annual event, organized by The Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA), brings children and books together to celebrate Australian children's literature through various events, such as library activities, author talks, and costume parades. We had so much fun dressing up, doing the parade and reading some of the fabulous shortlisted books.
Maths
In Maths, we have been learning about Angles. We looked at why angles are important and even what careers need a solid knowledge of angles. We then explored the names and degrees of different angles and we measured angles using protractors. We were also lucky enough to get a beautiful sunny day where we went on an angle hunt around our school to find as many different angles as we could. We then made human angles.
Religion
In Week 3 we celebrated St John Vianney’s Feast Day. In the morning we learnt about Saint John Vianney’s life. We learnt that Saint John Vianney was a very good man who devoted himself to the needs of his parishioners. People travelled from all over France to listen to him speak. Saint John Vianney was made a Saint in 1925 and he was then made The Patron Saint of Parish Priests. Our morning was then followed by an afternoon of fun and exciting activities provided by Kaboom. We had the best time.
John Hannah House Visit
This Term we visited John Hannah House. We enjoyed our time there, chatting to the residents, interviewing them about their lives and doing word finds and mindful colouring.
We have been rehearsing very hard for our SJV Concert and we can’t wait for you to see it come to life.
