District Athletics

50 students were selected to represent our school by trialling in each Athletics event during PE classes with Mrs Sullivan.  Every child in years 3 to 6 were timed, measured and recorded in events such as sprinting, jumping and throwing!  From the recorded results, a team was chosen to represent St John Vianneys at the Wellington District Athletic competition last Thursday.

 

Another terriffic day of competition saw SJV finish 4th in the final team standings.  An excellent achievement once again.  We had many students place in their events in both the A section events and the B section events.  The students who finished 1st or 2nd in the A section events then qualified to attend the Monash Waverley Division event to be held early next Term.  This year, we had 13 students qualify for individual events and not 1, but 2 relay teams also qualify!

Congratulations also to everyone who competed and represented SJV with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship.  Massive thanks to our staff who braved the cold, wind and rainy weather to support our students (and take amazing action photos!) once again at interschool sport - we could not attend these events without our amazing staff!
