From the Principal

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students

Welcome to Term 4, the final chapter of what has already been a rich and rewarding year at Clayfield College. With just nine weeks remaining, this term is filled with opportunities that reflect the strength of our connected culture and the deep sense of belonging that defines our community.

You will often hear me speak about Clayfield being a place to learn, a place to experience, and a place to belong. As we enter this last term of the year, those words ring especially true.

This term, we come together to celebrate student growth and their contributions to College life through a number of key events. Please refer to the ‘Upcoming Events’ section in The Collective, our weekly newsletter, for more details:

  • Secondary Music Celebration Dinner
  • P&F Beyond Boarders Gathering
  • Sports Celebration Dinner
  • Illuminate Showcase
  • LUX 25
  • Speech Night
  • Year 12 Celebration events
  • Primary Presentation Day
  • Carols Service

Looking ahead to 2026, current students will be supported through orientation activities in key transition years, while also getting the opportunity to meet new students and families joining our College next year.

For our Year 12 students, this term marks both a conclusion and a new beginning. They will soon undertake their external examinations, and we are proud of those who committed to their mock examinations during the September break. We look forward to creating special moments and symbolic ceremonies to celebrate their journey and mark their transition to becoming Old Collegians - always Connected by Clayfield.

An Invitation: Coffee Conversations

Further to my communication at the end of Term 3, in which I shared the 2026 leadership structure and details of our additional staff investment, I am pleased to confirm that ANZUK Education, a specialist education recruitment agency, has commenced the independent recruitment process for both the Director of Junior School and Director of Senior School roles.

As part of this next step, I warmly invite you to join me for a Coffee Conversation early in Term 4. These informal gatherings offer an opportunity to ask questions, share feedback, and explore the exciting journey ahead as we move toward the implementation of our new structure.

An Update: Information Learning Technology Roadmap

Clayfield College is currently developing a comprehensive Information Learning Technology (ILT) roadmap to underpin the design and delivery of a dynamic, student-centred learning experience. The roadmap aims to empower students, educators, families, and the wider community in their meaningful engagement with technology.

This work is being co-constructed through ongoing stakeholder engagement, integrating both current and emerging technology solutions. This collaborative process has already begun through a number of activities earlier this year, including:

  • Student surveys and feedback sessions
  • An audit of current student devices
  • Parent consultation forums
  • Staff workshops and discussions.

These conversations provided valuable insights and provoked key questions, including:

  • What does a single digital ecosystem look like in practice?
  • What are the current challenges in teaching and learning with technology?
  • Where is technology helping students thrive, and where is it falling short?

The feedback gathered continues to inform the development of the ILT roadmap and the associated business case. To support its design, the ILT roadmap is being structured around three key areas:

  • IT Infrastructure required to support effective teaching and learning
  • Professional Learning for staff to ensure confident and purposeful integration
  • Learning Framework that considers why, what, and how students should learn in the age of AI.

Aligned with our Strategic Pillar – Learning by Design, this work places the learner at the centre of every decision, ensuring technology is used intentionally.

One-to-One Trial

As part of this strategic direction, we are excited to announce that in 2026, we will commence a one-to-one school-managed device trial. The trial will use iPads at selected year levels and provide valuable insights to help shape the next phase of our ILT strategy. This is an exciting step forward in our commitment to designing learning experiences that reflect the needs of today’s learners.

I look forward to providing a further update on the recruitment process for the Director of Junior School and Director of Senior School, as well as the ILT roadmap and one-to-one trial later this term.

Wishing all students, families, and staff a purposeful and uplifting Term 4.

Kind regards
