In the classroom

Foundation/1

Throughout this term during Developmental Play children have been investigating different styles of transport. They have been creating paper planes and working out what needs to be adjusted to make them fly further. Building marble mazes, challenging themselves to make bigger and more challenging constructions.

Throughout Literacy we have been looking at the role of the Bossy 'e' with the grade ones and how it changes the sound of the vowel. With the Grade ones loving singing and making actions to the 'Bossy 'e' rap'. The Foundations have begun looking at what a digraph is and can now read and write 4 and 5 letter words.

During Numeracy our Foundations have been looking at addition and subtraction using pictures and concrete materials, while the grade ones have been building their skip counting knowledge.

Grade 6

In the past few weeks, the Grade 6’s have been working hard creating their Grand Prix car, inspired by the movie Cars. Our Grade have been luckily enough to be chosen by SMOTA to participate in their annual Grand Prix event, where students are required to create cars in groups, show them off in a “Show and Shine” and race! This year, the theme is “Disney +”, and our grade voted on creating “Tow Mater” from Cars. Students needed to use recycled cardboard, paint, and other materials to create their car! We have also chosen four lucky students to race and show off our car on the last day of term at SMOTA. These students are Porter Meyland, Blair Johns, Noah Morgan-Trease and Miley Ciavarella. The rest of the class will be dressed up supporting our racers!
