Principal Update

St Francis, Nathalia is a child safe school.

We promote the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children.

An update from our Principal

Dear Parents, Care Givers, Students, Staff and Friends of St Francis Primary School,

Spring: The Season of Creation:

The Season of Creation begins on 1st of September with a World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. The season concludes on the 4th of October, the feast of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology and beloved by many Christians. Through the Season of Creation individuals and communities are invited to participate through prayer, advocacy and sustainability projects. The 2025 theme is: “Peace with creation”.  The symbol for 2025 is the garden of peace. Many voices are silenced in the public discourse on climate change and the ethics of Earth conservation. They are voices of those who suffer the impacts of climate change. They are voices of people who possess ancestral wisdom about how to live with gratitude within the limits of Earth. It is the voice of the earth.

Please join in the following prayer:

God of all creation,

Your spirit dances throughout the earth.

You give drink to the trees, shade for the birds, bread for the hungry.

You bring life and make all things holy.

Flood us with your grace, so we may sow the seeds of love, justice and beauty, and reflect your kingdom here on earth.

We ask this through Christ your Son, Jesus Christ.

Amen

The last few weeks at St Francis have been particularly busy and this will continue into next week with our annual athletics carnival on Friday. l would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff for their contribution throughout these events that help provide a well-rounded, holistic education to the children in our care. During the past few weeks our staff has prepared, organised, facilitated and participated in the following events: (just to name a few)

  • Book Week activities and parade
  • Community Reading Day
  • Lightning Premiership sports carnival in Yarrawonga
  • Swimming Program at Aquamoves in Shepparton
  • Father’s Day Breakfast
  • Athletics Carnival next Friday

Many of these events sit outside our regular learning and teaching program and responsibilities with your children. Our school is blessed to have the dedicated, student focussed staff that we have. One of our themes at St Francis is that the students are at the centre of everything we do. This has certainly rung true during the past few weeks.

Happy Father’s Day:

Thank you to the many Dad’s, Grandfathers and other significant male role models in our student’s lives who joined us for breakfast Friday morning. The students are always excited to have their families join them at school and Friday morning was no exception. The vibe and atmosphere was warm and positive, and I thank everybody who made the effort to join us. I trust our dad’s will again be looked after on Sunday morning for the official Father’s Day festivities.

With Peace and Goodwill,

Matt Carver
