Murray Vet Stable Hand Position Available
Murray Veterinary Services requires a stable hand to work alongside and assist our current senior stable hand. This position is initially casual from October 2025 to February 2026. You would be expected to work 4 days per week and one in 3 Sunday morning shifts. The position has the potential to become a permanent/part-time position from February 2026 onwards for the right candidate.
The position involves cleaning stables and yards, moving horses between yards, paddocks, and the hospital, feeding and watering horses, as well as being responsible for keeping stables, barns, and grounds presented to a very high standard at all times.
You will also be expected to assist with treatments and procedures, hold horses as required, and manage the daily care of our embryo transfer herd under the guidance of veterinarians. From August to January, we breed a large number of mares at the hospital, so you would be expected to be involved in assisting vets with the breeding of mares and the collection of stallions.
The successful applicant will need to have had experience handling and working with horses, be willing to complete tasks effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision. Have good observational and communication skills and be able to work collaboratively within our team. The care, comfort, and well-being of our equine patients are our number one priority, and this role is essential in providing that care.
