PRINCIPAL

This week, I spent two days at the Southwest Principals Conference, which was held in Albany. It is always good to mix with staff from other schools, and I am reminded that we are lucky to be part of the agricultural college system. Because we select our students based on their interest in what we offer and tailor our learning approach to practical application, we enjoy greater engagement from our students. We are indeed fortunate.

Climate Change

This week, I joined a panel assessing Year 12 Certificate III Agriculture students as they presented their innovative ideas to cope with climate change. This is part of the Climate Smart Challenge, sponsored by the South West Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub, which provides significant cash prizes for the best ideas and presentations. All presentations showcased interesting ideas that the students had researched to address the strong likelihood that drought will be an increasingly challenging issue for us in the future.

My congratulations to the students who presented their innovations to the panel for stepping out of their comfort zones and challenging themselves.

Next week is the final week for most of our Year 12 students. Only those who have completed their assessments and qualifications will be eligible to leave. Additionally, parents will be informed about several clearance activities. Several activities have been planned to make the final week memorable for our Year 12 students, and we expect them to maintain a high standard of behaviour throughout.

Fingers crossed for the first fine weekend we have had in several weeks. Enjoy!
