Whats been happening around the school..

SHNPS Athletics
We kicked things off on Monday with our Senior Athletics – well done to all our athletes and congratulations to the winners!
To finish the week, we had our Junior Athletics this morning, which was a fantastic day full of energy, fun and great sportsmanship.
A huge thank you to all the parents who came along to cheer and support, and to the dads and special people who joined us for the sausage sizzle morning tea. We truly appreciate our amazing school community!
Foundation to Grade 2 Excursion
Students played games by the lake Boga, including Octopus and Corners, which were full of laughs and energy. They even spotted a pelican. They visited Bethunelane Dairy. One of the highlights, tasting their delicious chocolate milk – made with real chocolate!
Students enjoyed their visit to the Catalina Flying Boat Museum, where they learned some fascinating local history. A special moment was discovering that Levi’s great-grandfather, Ed Scown, was involved in placing the anchor blocks outside the museum. Levi was also excited to find the library dedicated to him!
Grade 6 Camp
Our Grade 6 camp was packed with unforgettable experiences and plenty of laughs. Over three days in Melbourne, we explored some of the city’s most iconic places and made memories that will stick with us for a long time.
On Monday, we stepped back in time at the Old Melbourne Gaol, learning about the lives of prisoners and even standing in the cold, dark cells that once held Ned Kelly. T’Yina said this was one of her favourite parts of camp. We also explored the Melbourne Museum, discovering everything from dinosaur skeletons to First Peoples’ history, and watched an incredible film on the giant IMAX screen that made us feel like we were part of the action. That night we went bowling, where the competition was fierce and the cheering was loud. Addi said she loved it because it “put pressure on people and encouraged me to try my best.” Some students even scored 100 and were rewarded with double scoops of ice cream to celebrate!
On Tuesday, we started the day shopping at the Queen Victoria Market, picking out souvenirs and trying delicious treats from the stalls. After that, we toured the MCG for a behind-the-scenes look at one of Australia’s most famous sporting grounds. Tyn said this was the best part of camp because he got to learn about the history of the ground, visit the change rooms, and walk through the exclusive club rooms where sporting legends have stood. We also headed to Hamer Hall where we worked together to create our own music, layering rhythms and beats as a group. We finished the day at the Eureka Skydeck, where Miranda said she loved seeing the sparkling city lights from 88 floors above.
On Wednesday, our final day, we visited the Melbourne Zoo. We wandered through the animal exhibits, saw everything from giraffes (yes, we met baby Tambi) to meerkats, and soaked up our last big adventure together before heading home.
Camp was the perfect mix of fun, friendship, and learning, and it gave us the chance to challenge ourselves, explore new places, and celebrate the end of our primary years together.
Grade 2 Sleepover
The Grade 2s had an exciting start to their sleepover! After dropping their bags at the Pioneer Settlement lodges, they boarded the PYAP for a relaxing cruise with icy-poles in hand. Back on land, they learnt how to make rope, enjoyed skipping games, and took part in a fun scavenger hunt.Once settled into their lodges, the children played games around the fire pit, enjoyed a hearty dinner (with dessert, of course!), and finished off the evening with the spectacular Sound and Light Show. Tired but happy after such a full day, everyone was ready for a good night’s rest.
