KLA Feature - Year 10

It has been another wonderfully productive term for our Year 10 students. We have been so pleased to see the way they are continuing to build on their learning, develop their independence, and embrace the many opportunities available to them. In addition to this, they are supporting one another and growing as active, generous members of our school community.
This term, Year 10 have been involved in a wide range of activities that showcase both their talents and their willingness to contribute. On the sporting field, students proudly represented the College in soccer, netball, and nine-a-side rugby league. Their commitment, teamwork, and sportsmanship shone through, with both the netball and rugby league teams making it through to the grand final in Week 6. Beyond sport, our Year 10 Drama class supported senior HSC Drama students during their practical examinations, while other students volunteered as reader/writers during the Trial HSC exams. Creativity and dedication were also on display at the Hawkesbury City Eisteddfod, where many students performed with passion in dance and the performing arts. Together, these contributions reflect a year group that is both talented and invested in their community.
Year 10 were also fortunate to attend bstreetsmart, a powerful road safety education program designed for students in Years 10–12. With road accidents being a leading cause of death and serious injury among young people, this initiative helps to empower our students to make safer choices as they prepare for driving. We encourage you to take the opportunity to talk with your daughter about what she experienced — these conversations can be lifesaving.
Another exciting initiative has been the ACU Social Enterprise Challenge, where eleven Year 10 students have been working together for the past eight weeks to design a social enterprise that creates positive change within our community. This project has been an outstanding opportunity for students to collaborate, think creatively, and apply their learning to real-world issues. Their journey will culminate in a high-energy showcase event in Blacktown, where they will pitch their idea to a wider audience.
This term we were also privileged to meet with a number of high-achieving applicants for our 2026 Academic Scholarships. The calibre of students was exceptional, making the process both competitive and inspiring. We were impressed not only by their academic achievements but also by their diverse talents, interests, and commitment to our College community. This experience highlighted once again the remarkable potential within our current Year 10 cohort as they prepare to step into their senior years.
A standout memory from the term was the Urban Challenge overnight adventure in Week 5. Despite braving the elements, the girls embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm. Highlights included the homeroom dance off, moonlight cruise, and shared meals in restaurants. More importantly, the students developed valuable life skills, navigating unfamiliar environments, managing money, working collaboratively, problem-solving under pressure, and communicating with confidence. These experiences helped build resilience, strengthen friendships, and foster independence.
We are proud of the way Year 10 continues to grow as learners, leaders, and young women of character. We encourage families to take some time to reflect with their daughters on all they have experienced and achieved this term. The lessons learned extend far beyond the classroom.
