Kiss & Go Usage and Safe Driving

Our senior school SRC Leaders have expressed their concern about the way many of our parents are misusing the 'Kiss & Go' area at the front of the school. This space is not to be used if you intend to get out of your car and meet your child in the school yard. You must remain in your vehicle and move on as soon as your child meets you and is safely in your car. This helps to avoid the build up of traffic and keeps our children safe. If you need to stop or get out of your car, please use the parking area at the rear of the school near Game Street.

Our school leaders have also observed a number of vehicles completing U Turns in the front of the school which is extremely dangerous at drop off and pick up times. Please drive on until you have cleared the busy school area before completing a U Turn, or preferably just drive around the block, as this will improve student safety markedly in the front of the school.

Primary students in particular should be dropped off on the school side of the road and not expected to cross the busy Commercial Street to enter school, as this is very dangerous pratice.

A big thanks to our student leaders for monitoring this area and thank you for helping to keep our children safe!

Sunraysia Division Swimming

Congratulations to Dexter who competed at the Sunraysia Division Swimming on Tuesday 4th March. He competed in freestyle and breaststroke. Coming third in the breaststroke event.

Chickenpox

We are advising families a student from our primary school has been confirmed as having chickenpox.

Advice from the Health Department on Infectious Diseases states that students with chickenpox are excluded for at least 5 days after the rash appears. A few remaining scabs are not a reason for continued exclusion. Students with shingles (which occurs only rarely) can attend school if the lesions can be covered adequately; however, exclusion from swimming and contact sports should be advised for seven days after the rash appears.

Parents of children with immunosuppressive diseases may wish to voluntarily exclude their child from attending school.

Further information about chickenpox is available on the following link:

HOCKEY ROADSHOW -PRIMARY

It was a fantastic experience having Hockey Victoria recently attend our school as part of their roadshow program. Our students learnt the skills of hockey through exciting game-based activities in an engaging, fun and safe environment. While the roadshow is over, students can continue their hockey journey by joining a local Hookin2Hockey program at www.hookin2hockey.com.au

With programs starting soon now is the perfect chance to get out on the pitch. Hookin2Hockey will allow children to expand on the skills they recently learnt at school, develop fundamental motor skills while making friends and having fun!
