Principal's Report

Term 2

Welcome back to Term 2. It’s been a pleasure to see students returning refreshed and motivated, ready to engage in a new term filled with learning and new experiences. This term we have already had our Year 7/8 students attend camp, creating new and exciting memories within their section, and we look forward to opening our school for our upcoming open session at each campus. Please keep an eye on Compass for further details.

Student Attitudes to School Survey

The Attitudes to Schools Survey (AtoSS) is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education to assist schools to gain an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Students will be asked about their thoughts and feelings in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general.

This year, the AtoSS will be conducted at our school from the 13th of May to the 13th of June for students in years 4-12.

Participation in this survey is voluntary. If you do not wish for your child to do the survey, please opt out via email to your school: Matthew.DiDomenica@education.vic.gov.au

Please email before 12th May, stating that you wish to opt out of your child’s participation, along with their name and year level.

Building Works

Our Watsonia Campus has seen the completion of their new playground. The new space includes new play equipment, soft fall surfacing and shade sails over the area. Students were excited to be able to watch the playground being built, and even more excited once it opened. Our Lower Primary students have spent the start of the term testing out all the new equipment and making sure they have found their favourite part!

Curriculum Day

On Thursday 24th April, our entire staff participated in a whole-school Curriculum Day focussed on our Vision and Values. Guided by a facilitator, staff engaged in thoughtful reflection and collaboration to explore who we are as a community, what we stand for, and how we bring these principles to life in our daily work at Concord School.

This important work will continue over the coming weeks and months, involving staff, students, and the wider community. Together, we will refine our insights, develop our new school values, and define what these will look like in practice across our school.

Concord School – Inclusion Statement & Commitment

Concord School is committed to cultivating a safe and inclusive environment for its students, staff and wider community including those who identify as LGBTIQA+.

As a school community we aim to provide our students a safe space to connect and access resources at Pride Group. Concord School makes the necessary adjustments for gender diverse students to comfortably access their school environment.

Concord School supports all members of the community for who they are and however they identify and works to promote an environment free from discrimination through our policies and positive, inclusive school culture.

We are proud of our diverse community and have zero tolerance for any form of discrimination, including on the basis of sexuality and gender diversity. Concord School understands that the benefits of visible LGBTIQA+ inclusion extends beyond our students and staff. A school that celebrates diversity benefits everyone.
