Premiers' Reading Challenge

St Joseph’s Primary School is Taking on the Premiers’ Reading Challenge!

We are excited to announce that St Joseph’s Primary School is taking part in the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge! This fantastic initiative is designed to encourage children to develop a lifelong love of reading.

The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 and is a personal challenge rather than a competition.

Students are encouraged to read a set number of books by 5 September 2025:

Prep – Year 2: Read or experience 30 books with an adult.

Year 3 – Year 10: Read 15 books independently.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Challenge, with the theme ‘20 years of words and wonder’.

Since the Challenge began in 2005, more than 4.5 million young readers have taken part, collectively reading over 63 million books! Over the last few years, we have seen many students at St Joseph's master the challenge!

All students who complete the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement, signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.

For more information, including the Premier’s letter to parents and the official booklist, visit www.vic.gov.au/premiers-reading-challenge.

All student have been registered for the challenge and login information was was sent home today. We encourage any families who wish to participate to begin to log their reading over their holidays. If you have any issues locating your child's information, please let us know.
