Term 1 Science wraps-up
As Term 1 comes to a close, it’s a great time to reflect on the exciting, hands-on learning experiences our students have enjoyed across the Science Department.
Our Year 12 Biology students delved into the fascinating world of DNA manipulation. They explored the tools and techniques used in biotechnology, examined how biological knowledge is applied in real-world contexts, and analysed the complex relationship between scientific discoveries and their impact on society.
Year 10 Chemistry students put their learning into action through real-world applications.
In partnership with KIOSC, they used analytical techniques to determine the purity of aspirin they synthesised in class and investigated the citric acid content in a range of commercial fruit juices—blending chemistry with problem-solving and critical thinking.
Meanwhile, Year 7 students experienced their first visit to KIOSC, where they explored the exciting field of robotics. They investigated how robots operate and how they are used in everyday life—an engaging introduction to the connections between science, technology, and the real world.
It’s been a fantastic start to the year, and we’re looking forward to what Term 2 has in store
