Sustainability in Action

OVER THE LAST 2 WEEKS THE STUDENTS HAVE BEEN . . . .
- Planting veggie seedlings in our school gardens
- Potting up strawberry runner plants ready to plant in spring time
- Planting broadbeans and garlic into small pots ready for planting in our school gardens
- Learning about worms and worm farms.
GREAT TOMATO HARVEST
We have been picking heaps of tomatoes from our school gardens with the students this term. Andrea and Bridget, who run our school lunch program have been using the tomatoes in pasta sauces, home-made tomato sauce, and other lunchtime dishes. Last week we harvested 43 kg of green tomatoes that will be used to make green tomato relish. We may have some for sale next term!
VOLUNTEER THANKS
Special thanks to grandparents, Stan Andrewartha (Maddie & Aiden) and Wendy Atkinson (Feuree) who have been assisting with our school garden program this term. We are very grateful for their generous support and interest in helping our school community.
Best wishes for the school holidays!
