Early Intervention Program

The Early Intervention Program aims to provide all specialist school staff, including education support staff and casual relief teachers employed by the school council, who are at risk of mental injury with early support for emerging health and wellbeing risks, to prevent them from escalating into more serious health concerns. Cogent Thinking is the external service provider of this free and confidential program, which can be used to address work and non-work-related matters (excluding Workers’ Compensation claims).
Staff engaged in the program will have dedicated case management support provided through a Care Coordinator who will assist staff to identify treatment goals and develop a recovery plan. Working with their Care Coordinator, eligible staff can access:
- Psychology: up to 8 sessions per issue, with an experienced psychologist either face to face or via digital platforms.
- Physiotherapy: up to 6 sessions per issue
- Exercise Physiology: up to 6 sessions per issue
- Dietetics: up to 4 sessions per issue
- Dedicated Care Coordinator: up to 15 hours of phone support per issue
- Referral pathways: to other support services within DE to improve health and wellbeing.
All services are funded by the department.
