Ryan’s Rambling

Dear Families,
The term has all but ended as I type this. What a term! What a school!
Today at our End of Term Values Assembly, our School Leaders reflected on the last ten weeks with the rest of the school community. As a Student Leadership Team, they all agreed that it had been a very busy term; however, there was much to celebrate. School camp, excursions, NAPLAN, our amazing Foundation Students, Authentic Actions, new friendships and much more, were part of the discussion.
At the assembly, we also drew the Easter Raffle in front of some very keen and interested onlookers. Thank you so very much to the parents and community members who donated goods for the raffle. Also, thank you to those who purchased tickets for the raffle. Every little bit helps and as a relatively small Government school, we really value and appreciate any support we can get in this space.
Recently, we have had two rather unfortunate situations with members of the public attempting to photograph our school whilst the children are at breaktimes. We take matters of child safety incredibly seriously and have responded to both incidents accordingly. Quite often, members of the public do not even realise the inappropriate nature of photographing children. At school, our staff have discussed personal safety with our students as part of our Wellbeing programs and will continue to educate our young people in this space. If your child is ever to report anything like: “There was a strange person at school today taking photographs” please let us know as soon as possible, so that we can take appropriate action.
Over the course of the next couple of weeks, the students have well and truly earned some downtime. This week, our staff have noticed our students have been tired. This could be due to the recent change in the weather, or just that they are ready for a break. I am hopeful that you are all able to give yourselves some TLC, also, over the next couple of weeks.
If I don’t get to see you, please take good care of those who matter most. I look forward to a similarly successful Term Two.
Just a reminder that students return to Dana Street on the 23rd of April, as we will be busy investigating how we can further improve our numeracy instruction on the 22nd.
Ryan 😊
