Principal's Message

From the Principal

Dear Families of Our Lady Star of the Sea,

As we wrap up another fortnight, I am filled with gratitude and joy for the events that have brought our school community together in meaningful ways. Firstly, we join the global community in celebrating the improved health of Pope Francis. After a challenging period of illness, the Pope has shown remarkable resilience and is now on the path to recovery. His strength and determination serve as an inspiration to us all, reminding us of the power of faith, hope, and perseverance. We continue to keep him in our thoughts and prayers as he rests and recuperates.

Closer to home, last week we celebrated Harmony Day, a vibrant and heartwarming occasion that highlighted the rich cultural diversity within our school and the broader Australian community. Students and staff came together to embrace the theme of inclusiveness, respect, and belonging. The school was adorned in shades of orange, symbolising meaningful conversations and mutual respect. Activities took place within each classroom and it was a beautiful reminder that our differences make us stronger and that everyone belongs.

Additionally, I hope you were able to take a breather this week as we paused—Week 8 being Wellbeing Week. With no homework assigned, students had the opportunity to focus on relaxation, recharge, and enjoy quality time with their families. It has been wonderful to hear about the many activities families have embraced, from cooking together to exploring local parks and engaging in meaningful conversations. Wellbeing Week is a reminder of the importance of nurturing our mental and emotional health, both individually and collectively. Thank you to all who contributed to these celebrations, whether through participation, organisation, or simply sharing a smile. Your efforts make our school a place where values of kindness and unity thrive.

Finally, I wish to inform you that Mrs Julie Tennant will be leaving us at the end of Term 1. Mrs Tennant has been a valued member of our team at Our Lady Star of the Sea, inspiring creativity and passion in our students. Her dedication and contributions to the Visual Arts program have made a lasting impact, and she will certainly be missed. Please join with me in thanking Mrs Tennant, we wish her all the best in her future endeavours. Over the coming weeks look out for some beautiful artworks that will be displayed on our boundary fences, created by the students, taught and guided by Mrs Tennant.

God Bless,

Mrs Maria Rose
