National Ride to School Day

Friday 21st March

Police Presentation

On Monday the 3/4 unit had a visit from 2 very friendly (and familiar) police officers as part of their Rule and Laws topic this term.

Here is a reflection from Shiloh H and Janna L.

Briana and Scott told us about the difference between rules and laws. They explained illegal and non-illegal things; and why we have some of the rules and laws that we do have. We learnt that a police officer's job is to keep people safe and happy and that their most powerful weapon is their voice. They told us that most people just want someone to talk to and to be heard.

They bought along their vest and other gear for some people to try on. It was so heavy!

They showed us their uniforms, their tools and give us some stickers. Police officers used to wear light blue uniforms in the old days but now they wear navy blue or dark blue with reflective spots on the uniform.

Fun facts we learned

Did you know that if you have permission to do graffiti you will not get into trouble?

Police dogs get let out after their training for 2 years?

You are not allowed to pat police dogs unless their handler says so.

Police dogs are used for finding drug dealers, missing people and criminals.

We look forward to sharing photos and reflections from 5/6 Camp in the next newsletter
