FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Term 1 - Week 10
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,
As we rapidly approach the end of our first term for 2025, we reflect on all the wonderful things we have accomplished in our first 11 weeks of the year. As a new principal, I could not have asked for a better start. One of the absolute highlights of Term 1 for me has been meeting, and getting to know all our students as they walk in the front gate in the morning ready to learn. I also have a deeper appreciation for the wonderful staff, students and families that make up our school and am so proud of all we have achieved this term.
Term 1 has been highlighted by:
- Our Opening School Mass
- Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day)
- Ash Wednesday Mass
- PT&F Welcome BBQ
- Our annual Swimming Carnival
- Parent Information Evening
- The St Nicholas PT&F AGM
- Year 6 Leadership Day
- Infants and Primary Student Open Classrooms
- Year 3 and Year 5 NAPLAN
- St Nicholas School Staff leading the Parish Stations of the Cross:
- St Patrick’s Green Day celebrations
- St Nicholas School Art Show
- Whole school Stations of the Cross
Even while referencing these highlights, I am most pleased with the fact nothing has distracted our staff and students from their teaching and learning. Term 1 has seen St Nicholas School staff incredibly focused on improving each student's faith, learning and wellbeing outcomes. This has been achieved through working as a part of a high functioning team of educators who believe every child can learn if they are provided the right tools and conditions.
During Week 11 we will be continuing to prepare for Easter. Next Tuesday 8th April we will have a Infants Easter hat parade commencing at 2:00pm, we warmly welcome parents and friends to celebrate the parade with us on Tuesday afternoon.
We also have our Whole School Stations of the Cross commencing at 9:30am on Thursday morning. This is where we remember the events from Jesus' passion and death. At each station we use our senses and our imagination to reflect prayerfully upon Jesus' suffering, Death, and Resurrection.
Colour Run Postponement
Unfortunately, due to the recent rain and the condition of our school oval, we have had to postpone the P&F Colour Run. Would like to thank the P&F for all their effort in preparing for this event. We are currently looking at new dates for the Colour Run and we will inform the school community of this date as soon as it is confirmed.
Have a wonderful fortnight everyone,
Peter Flynn
