Thank you message from Mrs Bate

I just wanted to thank each and everyone of you for your support of me over my years of working at NCS and for the wonderful farewell assembly and your lovely words in my book.

Working at NCS for all those years was an absolute honour and privilege.

To be serving God at a school where all the staff are Christians and all students are learning about the love of God something I’ll never forget.

I have so many memories that will stay with me forever as well as the friendships with families, students and staff. 

NCS always be a big part of my life and I thank God for the precious time that I had there. 

I’m currently enjoying a lovely trip up through outback Queensland and about to hit the East Coast of Australia and I hope to see you around when we return.  God bless.  

New strings group at NCS

Calling all violin, viola and cello players - we have a new string group!

We meet on Monday lunchtimes from 12:30-1pm in Mrs Landstra's Year 4 room. Years 4, 5 and 6 students as well as secondary students are welcome.

Currently we are practising short songs in 2 parts, but we hope to be learning ensemble music with more parts by the end of the term.

There are some violins available to borrow however please bring your own instrument if you have one.

Let Mrs Landstra know if you would like to join if you have not already put your name on the list.

Al Fresco Eating

Thanks to our maintenance team, students at NCS in Years 3-6 now have access to a seating area that gets plenty of good winter sun and, eventually, will be shaded by some recently planted advanced deciduous trees. We love our new seating area!

Expression of Interest - HSC supervisors

With our HSC exams happening next term, we are in need of some additional HSC Exam Supervisors. The main role of a Supervisor is to make sure all students follow NESA’s exam rules. Supervisors report to the HSC Presiding Officer and help them with other duties.

A supervisor’s duties may include:

• checking exam rooms are properly equipped and set up
• supervising students in exam rooms
• collecting completed exam papers
• packing up after exams.

The length and number of shifts a Supervisor receives depend on the number of exams held during the exam period.

An Exam Supervisor must have high ethical standards to uphold the integrity of the exams. They must be well-organised, have good attention to detail and be able to respond appropriately to maintain the dignity and wellbeing of students. 

A person cannot be an Exam Supervisor if:

• They have a relative (including children, siblings, grandchildren, nieces, nephews or cousins) sitting the HSC exams this year at NCS
• They tutor students sitting the HSC exams this year
•  They are under 18 years of age 

An Exam Supervisor must:

•  Hold a Working with Children Check for paid employment prior to commencing work
•  Have physical ability to handle exam materials and stand for most of the day

Afternoon Student Pickup

If you need to collect your child early for an appointment or convey any alternate plans to catch the bus, go to car lines etc., this will need to be done prior to 2.30pm.  Due to how busy the Front Office and classrooms are after 2:30pm, we cannot make late arrangements after this time.

Absences

If your child will be absent for school, it would be appreciated if you could complete and submit the below form or call the school office on Ph: 4422 1199 prior to school starting. If no notification is received, an SMS will be sent out to you which will require your response and reason for your child's absence.

This form can be completed in advance if you know your child will be away from school for any reason.

Late to school

Please be reminded that students are required to be outside their classrooms at the following times:

8:25am Secondary

8:35am Primary

Infants parents/carers, you may walk your child to their class before the school bell, but once school has started, they will need to walk themselves to their class on their own.

If your child is late to school, please ask them to come to the window next to the front office to check in. If they are not with an adult, you will receive an SMS to confirm that you are aware of their late arrival to school.

Before School Drop Off & Supervision

Student supervision begins at 8:10 am. Parents are asked not to drop students at school before this time. It is understood that buses arrive earlier than this. For those students who routinely arrive by bus before 8:10, they are expected to sit until supervision begins. It is suggested that they have a book or something else to do during this time.
