Connect: Year 3
September 2024
We would just like to take the opportunity to thank you all for working with us so closely and positively with a jam packed term. No doubt everyone is ready for a break and we want to say how proud we are of the students and what they have achieved throughout Term Three!
Date | Event |

Thursday 19th Sept | Pie & Sausage Roll Day |
Friday 20th Sept | Last Day of Term Three 2:30pm dismissal |
Monday 7th Oct | First Day of Term Four |
LIBRARY: Did you know we changed our library day? The Grade 3's now attend on a Wednesday. Please don't forget to send your child's library bag or satchel!
Literacy:Â
We have continued with the exploration of fairytales, specifically looking at characters and their motives as well as the settings that these stories traditionally use. This has also fed into our numeracy lessons with mapping! Last week, the students wrote letters as a character. For example, some students pretended to be one of the three little pigs, writing to the wolf, outraged at their treatment from the story. Many of these were creative AND hilarious!
The students also worked on their reading fluency by reading scripts and acting out stories.
Numeracy:Â
Throughout the past few busy weeks we have covered a range of topics, from refreshing our minds on time, learning about probability and collecting data to creating maps using coordinates. We will continue to review and finish off tasks that we have begun. Hopefully we have some cool fairytale maps to feature in our Patch space soon!
Â
Inquiry:Â Â
We have been so busy this term that we are going to finish our topics of 'Solids & Liquids' strong by holding an experiment day next week. We will explore the concepts of freezing and melting and how this links to states of matter!
Â
Wellbeing:Â
We are finishing our term looking at gender roles and what they look like in stories and the media! It is important for the students to explore what is seen in society and how it has changed over time. This work can be found in the Respectful Relationships curriculum which can be found online. We are first going to look at fairytales!
Â
Finally, on Thursday we acknowledged 'R U Ok?' Day and talked about its importance in supporting positive mental health. We are here to support you as families too. Please reach out if you need assistance.Â
We have refreshed our display space in the patch area! Feel free to come in and look at the beautiful artwork produced by both the Grade Two's and Three's. Both year levels worked together to make these pieces during Book Week!
Wow... were we blown away by our beautiful students and their incredible efforts with their concert!!! We have been impressed with their persistence during rehearsals... particularly because we have practised a lot after coming back from Camp! Your teachers are proud 3A and 3B! Check out the pics below!
