Connect: Year 1
Here we are near the end of Term 4 and what a way to end it with our fantastic whole school concert. We hope that those that were able to be there enjoyed watching it as much as we enjoyed putting it all together with the kids. It was a great success, and we are all very proud of the resilience everyone showed for what was a long day.

LITTLE LEARNERS LOVE LITERACY-
Students have been learning to say, read and write 'u' as in 'push and pull' and 'oul' as in 'could, should, would'.
LITERACY-
We have been looking at narratives and learning the difference between- reading to learn about facts and reading so a story can take us on a narrative adventure. Students have been using adjectives to describe characters and settings. They have been understanding the importance of planning and sequencing a narrative, so it makes sense to the reader, and looking at how events happen, before and after.
Students have had a lot of fun planning their own narratives.
We have also been exploring the suffixes 'ing' (jumping) and 'ed' (jumped).
Students will be looking at compound words and learning that two words combined together can make a new meaning such as 'rain' and 'bow' to 'rainbow'.
NUMERACY-
We have been looking at our Friends of 10 and exploring all the ways to make the number 10. Students have been doing this by using unifix blocks, tens frames and other math materials to help justify their thinking. Students have also been using strategies that they are familiar with such as the part-part-whole strategy. Students will be looking at efficient ways to record and organise their thinking by using Thinkboards.
INQUIRY
Term 3 has seen us learn about Chemical Science and students have been investigating the way that everyday objects can change shape through bending, stretching and twisting.
WELLBEING
Term 3 has seen the focus on how to resolve conflicts and how to be a kind friend.
Students are continuing to earn Dojo points for displaying the Skye Primary School values relating to Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Relationship. As part of our morning circle, the class sets a value that we all follow for the day making learning and behaviour expectations clear before our day starts.
WHOLE SCHOOL CONCERT
That's a wrap from all our superstars in Grade 1!
Enjoy the Holiday break.
