Drama

Year 7 students performed their scenes, inspired by Roald Dahl’s, ‘The BFG’, to our Year 2 students. The students used their expressive voices, animated gestures and utilised the space to create engaging scenes for their younger peers.

After performing at Queensland Theatre, Year 9 Drama are now workshopping their scenes from ‘Flowers in Antarctica’ in preparation for our upcoming LUX Arts Festival on Friday 8 November.

Opus 4

Congratulations to our primary musicians for their exceptional performances at Opus 4 last Thursday evening. It was a pleasure to present music from our choral, string, and band ensembles, and to enjoy the delightful performances by the Dance Troupe and Irish Dancers.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the staff and volunteers whose dedication and hard work made the event a success. A special shoutout to senior students, Tiffany Lee, Do Hee Lee, Manidhi Chezhian, Imogen Lockyer, Mia Geere, and our Year 6 music captains for compering the evening and assisting behind the scenes.

Brisbane Boys' College Grand Concert

Last Friday evening Canzona had the wonderful opportunity to perform the famous Coronation anthem “Zadok the Priest” with the Brisbane Boys’ College Collegian singers and Symphony Orchestra at their Grand Concert. Congratulations to all students involved on their exceptional performance and for giving their time and talents to be a part of this opportunity. We are very fortunate to be able to have the experience to perform such iconic works. We look forward to performing this great work again at Speech Night with Brisbane Boys College in Term 4.

Private Instrumental and Vocal Tuition

The fees for music tuition for Terms 3 and 4, along with any outstanding tuition from Semester 1, will be added to each student’s account in the Term 4 invoice. These charges will reflect the number of lessons received, plus an advance payment for lessons in Term 4.

Should parents decide to withdraw their child from Private Tuition, it’s imperative that the Music Department is informed. Failing to cancel lessons in a timely manner will incur a cancellation fee equivalent to 2 weeks of lessons. To avoid this, please ensure you send a withdrawal notification via email to music@clayfield.qld.edu.au by the end of Term.

For a detailed understanding of our Terms and Conditions, we encourage you to review the information provided on the lesson application form below.

Royal School of Church Music Event

Did you know that Christian Gante, our piano and guitar tutor as well as piano accompanist, is also a fine organist, and has played the pipe organ at our annual Secondary Speech Night for the past 3 years.

Christian is currently on the committee of the Royal School of Church Music and would like to encourage anyone who has an interest in pipe organs to come along to a ‘Pipes and Pizza’ event which introduces students, young and old, to pipe organs around Brisbane.  There will be speakers and performers, followed by an open console where attendees can have a try of the pipe organ, followed by some pizza.
