SCIENCE WEEK
SCIENCE WEEK!!
Last week we had science week with lots of fun events happening.
KSC SCIENCE WEEK - DAY 1.
We’ve had a ‘sweet’ and ‘buzzy’ start to KSC Science Week with the Year 8’s being involved in a workshop, run by RACE Victoria, investigating the properties and sugar content of different types of honey, and how bees are very important in agriculture and sustainability practices.
Megan from Melaleuca Nursery (Inverloch) visited and talked about providing habitat and shelter to native animals. Our students planted some native vegetation in our embankment behind the STEAM building to help with erosion and beautify our grounds at the same time. Thanks Megan (and Dawso) for providing plants for us to plant in the garden.
Thanks to Grace and Lilly from Agri-tech Education and Innovation for organising our workshops.
KSC SCIENCE WEEK - DAY 1 (Part 2).
This afternoon Science Week activities continued for the Year 8’s with a visit to Grand Ridge Organic Farm. They learnt about composting, the steps required to become a certified organic farm, and best of all got to taste some delicious produce from the farm, and what a beautiful day it was to be outside in a gorgeous farm environment!
Thank you once again to Grace and Lilly from Agri-tech Education and Innovation for organising our visit. And to Rosie and Richie for allowing us to taste and learn more about their organic farming practices.
KSC SCIENCE WEEK 2024 - DAY 2.
Science Week blew our minds today!
Tim from Profire Pyrotechnics gave the Year 10 students a demonstration of explosive Chemistry today on the top oval.
There was smoke, fireworks and explosions performed by a professional, who also gave us the story of how he became a pyrotechnic expert, and his experience with explosives and fireworks. The Year 10’s (and staff) jumped, screamed and loved the variety of explosions and colours.
Thank you very much to Tim for generously spending time with us. #scienceweek
KSC SCIENCE WEEK 2024- DAY 3.
KSC Year 9’s headed out into the Korumburra community today to spread the word about Science Week.
Grade 1 and 2 students at Korumburra Primary School were the lucky ones to enjoy the company of our Year 9’s and took part in the mini science lessons our students had composed and delivered with confidence and fun filled learning. Our little Science “tasters” went over very well with these young scientists and a lot of fun was had by everyone!
KSC SCIENCE WEEK 2024 - DAY 4.
Science Week fun was had by KSC Staff today.
A creative and delicious morning tea was shared together, provided by our Science team (and a few generous others).
It was Mad Scientist Morning Tea at KSC!!!
KSC SCIENCE WEEK 2024 – DAY 5.
Krystal and Steve from Burra Foods paid the Year 7’s a visit today as part of KSC Science Week, teaching them about hand hygiene and the spread of germs through “glitter germs”
AND
The shake-shake-shakin’ process of making butter from cream.
Students got to take home a lovely butter pat to share with their families after all their hard work.
Thank you to Krystal and Steve, we loved having you here to wind up Science Week at KSC.
KSC SCIENCE WEEK 2024.
There has been some mini science experiments happening in the General, Senior School and Middle School offices this week. They have turned out a treat!
Happy Science Week everyone!
