Year 12 Biology GTAC

GTAC

Year 12 Biology Students had the opportunity to participate in a workshop at GTAC this week to do some practical learning to supplement the Unit 4 Biology Curriculum.

They performed diagnostic tests to identify the causative agent of an outbreak of mastitis in a dairy herd, examined antibiotic sensitivity tests to determine the ideal antibiotic to treat this mastitis infection, then performed an ELISA test applying their knowledge of acquired immunity to trace the primary and secondary immune response to a tetanus vaccine in a herd of cattle.

Well done to our students and thank you to GTAC for providing this wonderful learning opportunity for our Biology students.
