All Things Hub

Springvale Rise Primary School Community Hub

In community hub, playgroup recently welcomed two special visitors over the past two weeks. The first visitor was Natalie from Springvale Library, who engaged the children with a captivating Storytime and song session featuring puppets and books. She also emphasised the importance of reading to children and introduced the "1000 Books Before School" challenge, encouraging parents and children to read 1000 books before starting school. If you are interested for your child to join you can register for this program at Springvale Library, where children are rewarded at each milestone.

Additionally, Playgroup had visitors from Monash Health, including a speech pathologist and an occupational therapist. They addressed parents' questions regarding their children's development, whether related to eating habits, sleep patterns, or language development. These professionals were able to provide referrals for families seeking further assistance for their children. If you have any concerns about your child, please consult your local GP, maternal health nurse, or reach out to me so I can connect you to Monash Health.

The Women’s Wellbeing Group has had a great week, with one of our school mums instructing other women on the art of making scones, a classic dessert crafted from flour, butter, and milk. These treats were served with jam and cream and were absolutely delicious! At the Springvale Campus, sewing classes will soon commence, while at the Heights Campus The Water Well Project has been invited to conduct two sessions on Mental Health and Wellbeing.

As the upcoming date approaches, we eagerly anticipate our Annual Women’s Health Forum scheduled for Thursday September 5th, 2024. This event is not only enjoyable but also serves as an educational opportunity to delve into women’s health topics. We have arranged for various guest speakers including the Multi-Cultural Centre for Women’s Health who will discuss breast screening and Chobani to facilitate a healthy eating session. Additionally, organisations such as Jean Hailes, Ambulance Victoria, Monash Health, Kidsafe Victoria, and the Australian Muslim Women’s Centre for Human Rights will be in attendance. The day will feature activities such as zumba, coffee, lunch, a special drumming session, and kid-friendly activities. Best of all, this event is completely free of charge. We are excited to welcome you to this event!
