Congratulations to all our students on a great day at the St Johns’ Athletics Day last week. It was so wonderful to see smiling faces, determined grins and hear cheering voices through the day.
Final results were as follows.
1st: Flora
2nd: Alex
3rd: Malachi
4th: Irene
A HUGE thank you to all the parents who helped with scoring, timing, judging and officiating at events, without your help the day would have not been able to be run.
Congratulations to the 47 students who represented the School today at the Footscray District Athletics Carnival.
The Year 4 and 5 students were very excited to experience this event for the first time, while the Year 6 students demonstrated great leadership and guidance to help and support the younger students during the day.
There were many wonderful displays of sportsmanship, determined efforts to achieve personal best performances and great team connection in the relay teams to achieve some fantastic results today.
Well done to all our team - a great effort.
We will give an update in the next newsletter about the individual achievements of students and those who will progress to the next level of competition.
A big thank you to all the parents who came to support our team and helped with officiating at different events.
Our Book Week celebrations are coming to an end and on Friday our last events will take place.
Remember to bring in a book for the book exchange and to get dressed up in your favourite book character on Friday 23rd August.

A big congratulations to our 2024 children for their successful, very reverent participation in their Sacrament of Eucharist on Saturday 17th August. The children lived out what it means to be a member of the Church and being a part of Jesus’ ongoing mission in the world.
We are very excited to announce that the Watoto Children’s Choir will perform for the St John’s Community on Tuesday 27th August.
Children are invited to wear cultural dress, or to wear something that reflects their identity. We also ask that a gold coin is brought in as a donation to the choir.
We invite our families to join us to watch the performance at 2pm in Joan’s Yard. Please note that this event will be weather permitting.
We are still running a food drive for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in Footscray. Please see the list below to know what food can be donated in your child’s class. We will be collecting donations until the end of Term 3.
The Holy Family Parish have asked for expressions of interest in children wishing to be baptised to gauge whether to run their Baptism program later in the year.
Please send your expressions of interest by Friday 30th August via PAM.
If you have any questions about the sacraments, please feel free to contact Jordan at jfry@sjfootscray.catholic.edu.au
