Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden
2024
A new seven weeks has begun with our 3/4D class having the opportunity to be involved with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program. On the 26th of July it was National Tree Planting Day. Kingston Council were offering schools in the local area the chance to receive a number of different native trees and bushes that could be added to the school gardens. So last week, in the full winter sunshine, we planted all these new plants. We found a bare garden bed next to the cubby house to be their new home. We hope they can take off and become a beautiful native garden amongst the playground area.
In the kitchen, we have had two weeks of cooking up a storm. The students have shown off their proficient cooking skills and made lots of yummy food to try. We have made a risotto, spinach and garlic spaghetti and vegetarian sausage rolls. They were all so delicious and filled up our tummies. We also made cheesymite scrolls, easy bread roll scrolls and blueberry and orange muffins. What a delight it is to see these little chefs doing their best.
Thanks to the beautiful Mums and Nannas for helping us with 3/4D. They have been Nana (Leon’s Mum), Jess (Christopher’s Mum), Rosie (Lewis’ Mum) and Rita (Max’x Nanna). If you would like to help 3/4D in the kitchen, please message me via Seesaw.
Arigatou!
