Students Hit the Slopes on Annual Ski & Snowboard Trip

In week 3, our school's annual Ski & Snowboard Trip was a smashing success, with students and teachers hitting the slopes for four days of snowy fun and adventure.

VERY early Tuesday morning (4 am), students gathered at the school parking lot, brimming with excitement as they boarded the bus for Mansfield to collect their skis or snowboard and then onto Mt Buller for their first lesson.

Once at Mt Buller, the students were given their first of four lessons with their qualified instructor. For many, it was their first time on skis or a snowboard, and the day was filled with moments of both challenge and triumph as they developed new skills and their built on their own resilience. More experienced skiers and snowboarders took advantage of the mountain’s more challenging runs and were great at helping their friends advance their new skills and build their confidence.

After a tough day on the slopes, the students rested on the bus for an hour before arriving at our accommodation, the Alzburg Resort in Mansfield. Here students were given a well deserved three course meal and accessed the many facilities at the resort, such as tennis, air hockey and foosball. In addition to this, students enjoyed each other’s company by playing card games and watching movies.

The trip wasn’t just about hitting the slopes; it was also an opportunity for students to bond outside of the classroom. New friendships were formed and current friendships were strengthened as students shared laughs, offered encouragement, and celebrated each other’s successes throughout the day.

Special thanks go out to the other staff who attended the trip, Mr Billings, Ms Eccles, Mr Nguyen and Ms Moore. They all were able to assist in teaching the students how to ski or snowboard, took them to new areas of the mountain and helped keep the trip running smoothly. Their enthusiasm and support played a key role in making the trip a memorable one for everyone involved.

Overall, the Ski & Snowboard Trip was a fantastic experience, combining adventure, skill-building, and fun. As students returned home, it was clear that the memories made on this trip would be cherished for a long time (including the three hours of non-stop singing that was heard on the bus ride home.)

I want to extend my gratitude to all of the students involved. The success of this trip rests highly on the capabilities, willingness and attitudes of the students. They truly made this trip as successful and memorable as it was.
