As we move towards the second half of Term 3, our students continue to engage in many exciting opportunities across the school.

One of our most anticipated days is our Book Week Dress Up Day which will take place tomorrow beginning with a whole school assembly at 9:30am at our Molesworth Street Campus. We look forward to seeing all the amazing costumes our students and staff wear!

Other upcoming whole school events to look forward to include: our 3-6 House Athletics Day on Thursday 29th August, our Junior House Sports Day and the Family Brekky BBQ on Friday 30th August and our Parent Teacher Interviews on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th of September.

Professional Practice Day – Friday 23rd August. No Students Required at School

As you may be aware the Department of Education has provided schools with the option to hold each teacher’s allocated Professional Practice Day on the same day for all staff. This is to enable the most effective and efficient use of this day.

As previously shared, NMPS has scheduled our Professional Practice Day for Friday 23rd August. Students will not be required to attend school on this day.

Student Dress Code Policy and Sun Protection Reminder

As we move into the warmer weather, we would like to remind all families of our Student Dress Code Policy and our Sun Protection Policy (both found on our website).

Our Dress Code Policy has been developed in consultation with our school community to ensure that it respects the rights of all individuals whilst reflecting the values and interests of our entire school community. All students are expected to comply with the Student Dress Code Policy, and we ask for cooperation from families to ensure students are dressed in appropriate attire for school. The policy also states that cosmetics and loose jewellery must not be worn at school. To assist families, while the NMPS uniform is optional, we encourage you to explore our uniform range, which can also make the morning routine easier.

Our Sun Protection Policy provides guidelines to support staff and students to use a combination of sun protection measures when UV index levels are 3 or above (generally from mid-August to the end of April). We ask that students come to school wearing sun-protective clothing such as tops with sleeves and longer style shorts, dresses and skirts. The Student Dress Code Policy states that clothing items must be of appropriate length and that students are not permitted to wear clothing that exposes specific parts of the body including shoulders and stomachs. Basketball singlets, tank tops, athletics shorts, footy jumpers and footy shorts, for example, are not appropriate school wear, as they do not comply with the Student Dress Code Policy or the Sun Protection Policy.

Hats should be worn at this time of the year for all outdoor sessions, including recess and lunch and are available for purchase from Reception on both campuses. As per our SWBPS Matrix hats, hoods and beanies must be taken off when in indoors.

2025 Prep Enrolment

Last week we sent enrolment confirmation letters to the families of our 2025 prep students. We look forward to welcoming our next cohort of Preps into NMPS when they begin their transition session next term with our current Prep teaching team.

Year 6 to 7 Secondary Transition

Congratulations to our Year 6 students who have been offered and accepted their secondary school placements for Year 7. We thank Kristen Pepyat and the Year 6 teaching team for their support and oversight of this important process.

2025 Student Numbers

It's that time of year when the leadership team begin working through 2025 planning, class structures and recruitment processes.

As we begin the planning process for 2025, we would appreciate parents notifying the school if your child/ren will not be returning to North Melbourne Primary School in 2025, as soon as possible.
