Victorian School Music Festival

Medal-winning ensemble performances

Over the past month, Northcote High School’s music bands and ensembles have participated in the Victorian School Music Festival held in the Hawthorn Arts Centre and Box Hill Salvation Army Hall. Numerous ensembles have played at the festival over the past month and all of our musicians should be congratulated on their performances. Four Northcote High School ensembles won silver medals: Jazz Ensemble, Interstage Band, Choir and Senior Vocals, which is an incredible result.  

Senior Stage Band, conducted by Tessa Bodenham and Josh Dulfer, were awarded a gold medal for their excellent performance which featured a splendid vocal solo from Zaki Mekawy on the jazz standard “The Way You Look Tonight.” After a fine showing from all of our bands and ensembles, we eagerly anticipate the performances of our Concert Bands and String ensembles at VSMF in the forthcoming weeks.
