Year 8 Soccer : Regional champions!
On Monday, the Year 8 girls' soccer team participated at the regional competition, winning all four of their matches and securing a spot in the state finals. Their performance was nothing short of outstanding, with special commendations for Kitty, Aisa, Cleo, and Simona, they were instrumental in the team's success, each making significant contributions both in scoring goals and in defense, ensuring that their opponents never got close to their goal. Congratulations to the entire team for their exceptional effort and teamwork—best of luck as you advance to the state competition!

From the team: In the first game the team played against Viewbank and drew 1-1. The brilliant goal was scored by Asia who took a shot from outside the goal box. The second game was played in amazing team spirts against Saint Helena winning 2, 0. Kitty and Isla scored the two goals showing wonderful skill. Our third game, which would decide if we got to the finals, was played against Mill Park. It was a challenging game, but we pulled through winning 1-0. The winning goal was scored by Finlay in the last 5 minutes of the game. We made it to the finals playing against a very challenging team who pushed us to the best of our abilities. We were very lucky to score a goal in the first half which was scored by Isla. After that we played a very defensive game making sure they couldn’t score. We congratulated Brunswick for playing a good game.
We thank Ms Legge, Blanca and Rosie for coaching us to our win. We can’t wait to play in the state!
Well done to our Year 8 Table Tennis Teams who recently competed in the Divisional Competition at Coburg Table Tennis Club. All of our teams finished on the top of their pools with wins against all of their opponents. Both of our A teams finishing the day as overall winners of the competition and now progress through to the regional which will be played in Term 4 on October 24.
The girls had a great day at the basketball tournament, with the girl's A team winning their first two games, overall placing 4th in the competition. Some highlights were Saskia F and Sylvie’s shooting, Matilda’s intercepts and overall great teamwork throughout. B team had a great time, winning 1 out of 2 of their games. Some highlights were Mia’s shooting and Ruby and Lila’s strong determination. Overall, everyone played their best and had fun.
Mary Mckie, Year 9
We are thrilled to share the exciting news about our year 9/10 school basketball teams who recently played in the division school basketball tournament. Both boys ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams went undefeated and the A team advanced to regionals. Their hard work, dedication, and teamwork have truly paid off, bringing pride and honor to our school.
We would like to give a shout out Lucas Gillingham who played great throughout the whole tournament. And of course, we could not have done it without our coaches Finnley, Zoe and Leeroy who helped the boys advance to the next round.
Charlie Stoilkovski, Year 9
Once again, due to an overwhelming response to sign ups for basketball, we held our Junior Selection Tournament at Narrandjeri Stadium. This is fun day where 150 of our Year 7 and 8s got the opportunity to play an all-day basketball tournament, whilst also having the possibility to be selected in the teams to represent NHS at the Divisional Competition. This day could not be run without the help of the attending staff and our older students who ref the matches and help out with selecting the teams. A big thank you these student coaches/ selector / refs Wim Lobb, Charlie Stoilkovski, Ryan McIntosh, Spencer Greenow, Sophie Xintaropoulos, Sylvie Saunders, Saskia Freeman, Mary Mckie, Leo Herceg and Amyn Ibrahim.
