Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge
To our MPS Community,
The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open students at Mullum Primary School are going to ‘Explore, Learn and Enjoy!’ The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development, and of course, enjoyment! It is a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books (or more!) by the 8 September 2024.
Our Junior School Council representatives will be tracking our progress as a school to help encourage and instil a love of reading in all our students. They will be supporting classes in their challenges through the promotion of engaging books, school goals and trivia.
Your child will soon receive a VPRC unique username and password in their satchel to log onto the PRC application, which you can access here. From here, your child can log the books they read independently or with a family member. They can even mark books as favourites, give them a star rating or complete a book review.
Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or experience at least 30 books with their parents and teachers. Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read at least 15 books.
All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.
