Wellbeing Update – End of Term 2
As we reach the end of another busy term, it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the progress our students have made in developing the social, emotional and behavioural skills that help them learn and thrive.
This year, our school has continued to strengthen our work in both Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) and School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS). Through these approaches, we aim to create a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every student feels a sense of belonging and is equipped with the skills they need to succeed.
Throughout the first half of the year, students have been explicitly learning and practising our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. We have introduced and refined our behaviour expectations, procedures and routines across different areas of the school, including classrooms, playgrounds, transitions and shared spaces. Students have also participated in lessons focused on important wellbeing skills such as recognising and discussing emotions, giving others personal space, solving problems respectfully and building positive relationships.
Our staff have been continuing their professional learning in Positive Classroom Management Strategies (PCMS), helping to create consistent and supportive learning environments where positive behaviours are taught, encouraged and acknowledged.
Looking ahead to Term 3, we will continue to build on this work by:
- Further strengthening students' social and emotional learning skills.
- Continuing explicit teaching of our behaviour expectations and school values.
- Exploring new ways to acknowledge and celebrate positive behaviours.
- Supporting students to develop resilience, problem-solving skills and positive peer relationships.
Continuing targeted wellbeing supports and small-group programs for students who may benefit from additional assistance.
Thank you to our families for your ongoing support and partnership. Working together helps us create the best possible environment for our students to learn, grow and flourish.
We wish all families a safe, restful and enjoyable winter holiday break and for a bit of fun you might like to try some Winter Holiday Wellbeing Bingo!
