Student Voice

This term has been a very busy one and has seen so many great things happening in our school.

Our  student voice team, made up of our class PBL leaders, have been absolutely wonderful at being amazing representatives for their levels and have come up with many suggestions to improve our school.

One suggestion which was raised was a new cubby house to go with our original one as it has proved very popular.

On the school’s behalf I applied to the Bendigo Bank in Dingley for a community grant of $5000 and we were lucky enough to be successful! The Bendigo Bank prides itself on putting money back into the community and was delighted to help us so please consider supporting them.

As well as this wonderful initiative the school is also forming a partnership with Mannix College, a Catholic residence for Monash University Students. These wonderful young students intend to help us design and build at least 1 new cubby house using the grant we have secured from our friends at the Bendigo Bank.

MHIPS

This year Saint Andrew’s has become involved in the MHIPS program. This stands for Mental Health in Primary Schools. Myself and the wonderful Rose Restaino lead this great initiative as we believe  children’s mental health and wellbeing is fundamental to their development and learning. Good mental health means having a positive sense of wellbeing, coping with challenges and being able to realise individual potential. Unfortunately, not all children experience good mental health. Schools are an ideal platform for promoting children’s mental health. Yet, without resourcing and dedicated training and support, it can be challenging for teachers to navigate increasing mental health issues in the classroom.

Developed by paediatricians, educators, psychologists, researchers, and teachers, the Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) initiative upskills experienced educators to become Mental Health and Wellbeing Leaders and aims to increase the capacity of primary schools to support the mental health and wellbeing of their students.

Thankyou

Thank you to all the parents who are so supportive of their children and so respectful and trusting of us. Education is truly a partnership between all those involved and the more you can support your child and the people who care for and educate them every day the better the outcome. Remember we are all driven by the same goal, wanting the best for your child academically, emotionally, socially and spiritually.

Enjoy the break with your beautiful kids.
