Class Spotlight 

Last week, our Kindy students enjoyed a hands-on maths activity that combined creativity with counting skills. Working in pairs, students took turns rolling a die, and the number they rolled determined how many of a specific body part – such as eyes or arms – they added to their playdoh monsters. Using craft materials, each group created a unique monster with different features and arrangements. This engaging experience strengthened their number recognition and counting abilities while encouraging imaginative thinking and cooperation. It was fantastic to see our young learners exploring maths in such a playful and inventive way!

Students in K Hume have also been busy applying their growing understanding of letter sounds to write sentences about the wonderful book Shoes from Grandpa by Mem Fox. Their enthusiasm for writing continues to impress!

In HSIE, our learning has focused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Creation stories. To celebrate NAIDOC Week, the class is preparing a special collaborative artwork. We chose to base our design on the Gundungurra Creation Story of Gurangatch and Mirrigan, honouring the rich cultural heritage it represents.
