Foundation
Hello Families,
We've had a wonderful week in Foundation (as always). On Monday some of the Foundation students performed in our very own Sacred Heart Talent Show! The children were very excited to show off their talents including ballet, singing and dancing. Well done to everyone who participated and to those who didn’t for being such enthusiastic and supportive audience members. Have a lovely weekend. One week to go!
Year 1
Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a wonderful break over the long weekend!
This term for Inquiry, we are learning about recycling, reusing, repurposing, and refusing waste. An important part of the Inquiry process at our school is taking action. After learning about a topic, we think about how we can make a positive difference and put our learning into practice. As part of our action project this term, we have been collecting rubbish from around our classroom and transforming it into a piece of artwork. There is nothing families need to do, we simply wanted to share a little update on our progress! The artwork is really beginning to take shape, and we thought you might enjoy a sneak peek. You'll get to see the finished masterpiece next term, but for now, we have a challenge for you: Can you guess what it is?
Enjoy the photo below, and we look forward to revealing the finished creation soon!

Year 2
Hello Families,
It is so hard to believe we are almost at the end of Term1, true that ''time flies" by with all our learning and celebrations. We started the week off with going to Church with Year1 to share our prayers with Father and the parishoners. We had the Talent Show, congratulations to our Scarlett, Ada.H , Jaimee and YiChen for their performances, so awesome indeed. Each day we worked on our Inquiry projects making sailboats. We ended the week with Ethan and Ada.H receiving certificates at assembly and enjoying the World Soccer celebrations with a special lunch. Have a wonderful weekend, we look forward to next week being the last before a 2 week holiday break. Thank you families as always, for your tremendous support with our teaching-learning process in our wild world of Gruffalos!
Year 3/4 AL and Year 3/4 T
Hi Families,
Week 9 was a busy one!
On Monday we welcomed a Police Officer Robbie to our classrooms for an important session on cyber safety. He discussed the 'red flags' to be aware of and what to do if we feel unsafe online. Robbie explained that there is no way to check or no who is on the other side of the screen and that the average age of a multi player gamer is 41 years old!
We watched a presentation called 'Think u know' and, most importantly, it explained if we are ever unsure about an online interaction;
1 don’t engage; block and report
2 if told to keep a conversion private, always let a trusted adult know!
3. if people are trying to ask for personal information-address, name, age, passwords, family, only about you/private- keep it to ourselves and again, let a trusted adult know!
This week has also included the Talent show (part 2 coming at 2:30pm on Friday 26th June), our 3/4 Assembly where we showcased our term of learning and concluded with our special World Cup lunch celebration.
We extend our warmest congratulations and blessings to the students who will receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on Sunday! As they welcome the Eucharist into their lives for the very first time, we keep them in our prayers as they continue to grow in faith and love.
Thank you families for your all support this term.
Year 5/6J
Hi families,
This week in 5/6J our Inquiry projects have begun to take shape, as our old jeans are beginning a new life as a new repurposed item! The students have been working with Denise, Marie and myself in learning to sew 3 basic types of stitches; the blanket, running and over stitch.
The students have taken very quickly to these skills and are havinga blast! We are so excited to share our wonderful creations with everyone in Term 3 at the Art Show!
Year 5/6M
In Inquiry this semester, the Year 5/6’s are looking at the topic ‘The Science of Change’. They have been learning to design / redesign products to be fair, sustainable and ethical. This week, all students began planning the size of their individual item, then using this plan to follow the design process.
Chloe: In Inquiry I am so excited! We are repurposing jeans to make new things. The other day, we cut out our jeans and got our materials ready.
Katalina: I am making a stuffed animal out of my denim jeans. I am using buttons for the eyes and other accessories to make it more interesting.
Lawrence: I am really enjoying our Inquiry project. It is so fun making things from old jeans.
Shamus: When I planned what I was making out of a pair of jeans, I was really excited to start the project. I am making a book bag with a pencil pouch.
Audrey: So far in Inquiry, I am working on an amazing project with jeans!! I am making a bag out of recycled jeans and it is such a fun project.
Suzie: Yesterday we had Inquiry and it was super fun. I started to make a tote bag. I haven’t finished it yet. We are making things out of old pairs of jeans. I am really excited to continue Inquiry.
