Primary Report

Here we are at the mid-point of the school year and it has been a really busy and productive semester for us all in Primary.
Here is a summary of the events we have experienced this term:
The Prep-Year 3s have enjoyed the gymnastics program at the YMCA this term, which proves to remain a firm favourite with these students.
This cohort are also off to Bundoora Park and Homestead this week to celebrate the conclusion of their history unit this term. (rescheduled for Term 3)
The Year 4-6 students have had a fabulous term of Interschool Sports competition, with our Mixed Netball team having made it to the finals this year. Congratulations to these students on their success. All of them represent our school with pride and display our school values every week, learning and honing the skills of their sport as they meet new people in the spirit of friendly competition.
Mr Lo Nigro’s class were invited to participate in the launch of the new Carlton Respects program this term. They were treated to a fabulous morning of football clinics, delicious morning tea and meeting some Carlton players in the process. It was a real honour for our children to be invited to this event, and it was due to their exemplary behaviour during a school visit by the Carlton Respects team that earned them the privilege.
We have had 6 of our primary students participating in VHAP (Victorian High Ability Program) this term. The Victorian High-Ability Program (VHAP) is an enrichment program that addresses the needs of high-ability students to engage with challenging material. These sessions are conducted online and are a great way for these students to step out of their comfort zone and uplevel their learning.
Of course, a highlight for our Year 4-6 students this term, was our camp to Sovereign Hill back in May. This was a great learning experience for these students, as they were immersed in the times of the 1850s which was a significant time in our history and the development of our democracy.
Last Friday, we played hosts to a group of Year 4-6 students from Hong Kong. They joined our students for a range of activities such as an Art/Maths lesson, an AFL clinic run by our Year 9 and 11 students, a Music session learning Waltzing Matilda and concluding with a conversation session with our Year 5/6 students. This was a wonderful day to showcase our school to the international community and show them what a great school Macleod College really is.
I would like to extend my thanks to Jane Galanti and her team also, for their fabulous efforts to deliver another terrific Mother’s Day stall this year. I know our children look forward to shopping for that special something for their Mum each year.
I hope all our families have a safe and restful break and we look forward to another term of great learning and exciting events on our return.

Primary Captain's Report
This term was very eventful, featuring numerous excursions and incursion including Carlton Respects, Sovereign Hill Camo, Interschool sports and Cinderella rehearsals (don't forget to buy your tickets for September 3rd - 5th!). We also enjoyed National simultaneous Storytime and the Scholastic Book Fair. We are all getting ready for a cozy winter holiday!
