Wellbeing

As Term 2 draws to a close, I want to take a moment to thank all our students, families and staff for their continued resilience, enthusiasm and support throughout the first half of the year. It has been a busy and productive term, and we are proud of the growth and achievements we have seen across our school community.
With the holidays fast approaching, it is important to ensure that students and families have access to support, resources and engaging activities during the break. Here are some valuable programs and opportunities available over the holidays:
Banyule Youth Services School Holiday Programs
A fantastic range of activities is available to keep young people active, creative and connected during the break. These free and low-cost programs are a great way for students to explore interests and build social connections. Visit the Banyule Youth Services website for full details.
Headspace Greensborough – Art Therap
Art Therapy offers a supportive way for young people to explore their emotions and improve wellbeing through creativity. Headspace Greensborough continues to run this valuable program. Please check their website for upcoming sessions and bookings.
Yarra Plenty Regional Library School Holiday Events
The local library has a wide range of activities including gaming, coding, craft, Lego, movies and storytelling. These events are open to all ages and offer a fun and relaxed way to stay engaged during the holidays. Bookings are required. Visit the Yarra Plenty Regional Library website to learn more.
Free Parent Webinar – Supporting Boys and Young Men Online
Parents and carers are invited to a free 45-minute webinar on Tuesday 30 July at 12.30pm, hosted by the eSafety Commissioner. The session will explore the online experiences of boys and young men, including how they seek connection and validation, and how to support them in navigating harmful content and promoting critical thinking. You can register for the webinar on the eSafety Commissioner’s website.
As always, if you or your child needs support during the holidays, services such as Headspace, Kids Helpline (1800 55 1800) or Lifeline (13 11 14) are available.
Wishing you all a safe, restful and enjoyable school holiday. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 3.
Exploring the online experiences of boys and young men
For boys and young men, the internet can be a place where they seek connection, validation, and guidance. However, they can also be exposed to harmful content, online exploitation and misogynistic ideologies. This 45-minute webinar explores the social and cultural influences shaping bots today, how they engage online and how to support them with open conversations and critical thinking.
