Sport & PDHPE

Sport News
It’s been a great term of sport at J J Cahill, with students continuing to get involved, give their best, and represent the school with pride.
This term saw strong participation at both the Zone Cross-Country and Athletics Carnivals. Whether it was powering through long-distance runs or competing on the track and field, our students showed determination, sportsmanship, and plenty of school spirit. A huge congratulations to all who competed - you represented J J with pride.
Students who have advanced to Sydney East Athletics include:
Jerome (shot put), Alex (long jump and 200m), Matthew (100m), Zhane (100m and 200m), Tiffany (shot put), Elenoa (shot put), Mele (shot put), and Laini (shot put and discus).
Our U15s Netball team took to the court at their gala day and did a fantastic job. Their teamwork, energy, and growth across the day was impressive. This group shows real potential as a strong development team for the future of netball at our school, and we’re excited to see them continue to build their skills and confidence.
The Open Boys Volleyball team also had a great term, displaying impressive skill, focus, and unity. Their performance at the NSW Secondary School Volleyball Cup saw them advance to the Quarterfinals.
Thank you to all the staff who coached and supported our teams, and to every student who gave their best this term. Your efforts don’t go unnoticed.
We’re excited to see even more sporting success and school spirit in Term 3!
PDHPE in the Classroom
It’s been another big term in PDHPE, with students across all stages continuing to impress us with their effort, energy, and growth.
Stage 4 and 5 students have shown strong engagement across a range of topics, from respectful relationships and decision-making to movement skill development and fitness. Whether it's been practical lessons in the gym or thought-provoking discussions in theory, it's clear many are stepping up and taking responsibility for their learning. Stage 6 students have also been exceptional this term. Our Senior CAFS, HAMS, PDHPE and SLR classes have been demonstrating maturity, curiosity, and a genuine willingness to improve. The quality of their contributions, their study habits, and their collaborative spirit have not gone unnoticed.
A huge thank you must go to one of our PDHPE Teachers, who finishes up with us at the end of this term. He has brought a calm, positive energy to the PDHPE staffroom, and his rapport with students and thoughtful teaching style have left a lasting impact. He will be deeply missed by staff and students alike, and we wish him all the best in his next chapter.
As always, we encourage students to stay active, stay connected, and continue to bring their best to every lesson. Term 3 promises even more opportunities for learning and growth and we’re excited to keep moving forward together.
