Careers and Future Pathways

This term, our students from Years 7 to 12 have engaged in a series of enriching experiences designed to broaden their horizons and prepare them for the future.

AI Incursion: Engaging with Emerging Technologies

A group of students participated in an Artificial Intelligence (AI) incursion, where they explored the applications of AI across various industries. Highlights included demonstrations of driverless cars, autonomous drones, robotic dogs, and humanoid robots. These hands-on experiences sparked curiosity and provided insights into the transformative potential of AI technologies. As AI continues to shape our world, integrating such experiences into education is crucial for developing digital literacy and critical thinking skills.

HSC & Careers Expo: Navigating Future Pathways

Students from Years 10 to 12 attended the HSC & Careers Expo at Randwick Racecourse, engaging with over 120 exhibitors, including Universities, TAFE Campuses, and organisations offering apprenticeships and employment opportunities. The expo provided students with valuable resources and information to assist in making informed decisions about their future careers and educational pathways. Events like these are instrumental in connecting students with potential career pathways and educational opportunities.

TAFE Short Courses: Gaining Practical Experience

Several Year 10 students enrolled in TAFE short courses, gaining firsthand experience in fields such as Nursing, Early Childhood Education, Electrical Trades, and Barista courses. These courses offer students a taste of vocational education and training, allowing them to explore potential career paths while still in school. Participating in TAFE courses can enhance employability and provide a competitive edge in the job market.

Year 12 Wellbeing Day: Exploring Post-School Pathways

During the Year 12 Wellbeing Day, students received presentations on various pathways available after high school. Emphasis was placed on the fact that the traditional route to university is not the only option. Many TAFE Campuses and Universities offer alternative entry pathways, such as starting at a certificate level and progressing to postgraduate study. Exploring these options can provide students with flexible and diverse pathways to achieve their career goals.

These initiatives underscore our commitment to providing students with diverse opportunities to explore and prepare for their future careers. We look forward to continuing to support our students in navigating their educational and career journeys.
