Children and Parenting Support Service (CaPSS)

The Salvation Army: Supporting Families in Melbourne's West
We are pleased to share information about a valuable resource for our school community: The Children and Parenting Support Service (CaPSS) from The Salvation Army.
CaPSS is an early intervention and prevention program dedicated to supporting families in the west of Melbourne, including the local government areas of Melton, Wyndham, and parts of Hobsons Bay. Their goal is to empower parents, strengthen family relationships, and build a sense of community connection.
Services Provided by CaPSS:
- Individual Parenting Support (IPS): A tailored, one-on-one program offering 6-8 sessions to help families with specific parenting concerns and goals.
- Evidence-based Programs: They run a variety of renowned programs such as 123 Magic, Bringing Up Great Kids, and Tuning Into Kids / Tuning Into Teens, which focus on key parenting foundations like emotional intelligence and building healthy relationships.
- Workshops & Seminars: CaPSS offers one-off sessions on a range of topics relevant to families, including mental health, healthy eating, finances, and gaming.
- Community Groups: They facilitate support groups like Mum's Group and Dad's Playgroup, as well as cultural groups like the Koori Kids Club and Tidda Bunji women’s group.
- School Holiday Programs: During school holidays, they offer free programs for children aged 5-12.
CaPSS is also happy to deliver a specific workshop or parenting program at our school if we have a group of 8-10 interested parents.
A detailed brochure of all their programs is attached for your reference. If you have any questions or are interested in a specific program, please feel free to reach out to the CaPSS Team directly or to our Mental Health Practitioner – David Baskaran.
