Principal Message

Dear Families,
Reports: Thanks to staff for their efforts in assessing and compiling reports ready for distribution soon. As mentioned previously this term, we will be publishing reports soon and there are a few changes to take note of. The new Vic Curric 2.0 is being reported against which drops off the progress trail we usually see. We hope this returns next semester.
In Maths, we are required to provide an ‘Overall’ assessment and have also left the strands we teach and their assessment result. It will look similar to the table below.
Please note how there is no rating for ‘Space’ in this example due to it being taught in second semester. We do spend more lessons on ‘Number’ and use number in all other areas of maths too, so there may be stronger correlations between the Mathematics Overall rating and Number rating. We appreciate your patience as we move into the VC2.0 and reporting.
Parent Teacher Meetings: Thanks to the families who have booked in on Sentral. We have a couple of teachers who may require a few times out of the Sentral booking times and they will organise via Seesaw directly with families. We hope you value this time as much as we do to chat about your child progress and next steps in their learning. 15-minute meetings and if you need extra time, please organise this directly with the class teacher for another time so we can keep on track with all meetings.
Year 3 Camp: Last week, our Year 3 students had an amazing time at camp! They showed incredible courage taking on the Leap of Faith and threw themselves into a range of fun and challenging activities. By the end of it all, they were well and truly exhausted but came home with big smiles and plenty of stories to tell. A quick reminder to parents: if your child took any medication to camp that they still require at school, please return it to the front office as soon as possible.
New Furniture: Tomorrow will be a big day at school with a changeover of tables and chairs. Your voluntary contributions are essential in helping us keep tables, chairs, and other aspects of school contemporary and new. Adjustable tables will be in classrooms that enables us to cater for various students’ heights, students who may like to stand and work and when we have to relocate classes – we can just adjust the table heights. Thanks to Mrs H and the Finance Committee for sourcing a great deal and making this happen for the students. We hope to donate the current furniture to nearby schools and Pacific Assist, who send the furniture to schools in the Pacific Islands.
Facilities: Thank you for your patience with all the works occurring around the school. The front entrance should be re-opened Thursday afternoon/Friday morning. The path to the Library/OSH will remain closed for a little longer and then works will continue down the path adjacent to the library and sandpit.
Holidays: Works will be in full flight across the school over the holidays as the tradies try to get as much done as possible to minimise disruptions to classrooms. It is likely some asbestos eaves will be removed so I encourage families to let their children know to avoid the school grounds these holidays. The Holiday program will be running from a different location so please contact Camp Australia if care is needed.
Before School and After School Care: A reminder that Camp Australia provide care and supervision from 7am and finish at 6pm. With the cold and wet weather, please consider using the facility to ensure your children are supervised. Yard duty does not begin until 8.45am and concludes at 3.35pm daily.
Parent/carer SSB (School Saving Bonus) Reminders for 30 June 2025: Families can continue to use SSB funds until Monday 30 June 2025 to buy uniforms, or to allocate funds to school activities using the parent/carer online system. The parent/carer online system will close at 11.59pm on 30 June 2025 and any funds remaining, including online voucher amounts that have not been redeemed, will become a school activities credit. The activities credit will be available on your family account in late July or early August 2025. Therefore, families will need to use the SSB online system to allocate funds to school activities before 30 June 2025, if they wish to use the SSB to pay for school activities in July. Allocations that could be completed on your family account have now been done and statements will be sent home shortly for families in credit or owing. Please contact the office if you have any queries.
Uniform: After some work with a few students who have let us know the current school shirts ‘feel itchy on their skin’, we will soon be offering a new option of short and long sleeve sublimated shirts soon. The new design has EST. 1891 paying respect to the year the school was built and opened. School Council has approved the new design, which is made from a different material, similar to the House Colour shirts and has the logo printed, not embroidered. We will let you know when they become available.
Also, please remember to notify your child’s teacher if they are out of uniform. We have loads of second hand uniform available in the office for a gold coin donation.
End of Term: Next Friday 4th July is the last day of Term 2. We conclude the day at 2.30pm with students dismissed directly from their classrooms.
Enjoy the rest of the week. Try to stay warm and dry!
