Year 12 Theatre Excursion – The Birds at Malthouse Theatre
Our year 12 Theatre Studies students recently had the exciting opportunity to attend a performance of 'The Birds' at the Malthouse Theatre in Melbourne. This bold and thought-provoking production offered a unique interpretation of The Alfred Hitchcock film, 'The Birds', sparking rich discussion around design choices, performance style and political commentary.
It was a valuable experience that deepened students' understanding of live performance and dramaturgy—while also giving them a taste of the vibrant professional theatre scene in the city. A fantastic day of inspiration, learning, and connection!

Art Club
In the beginning of this semester, the art team started running a weekly art club every Tuesday during lunchtime. The club welcomes anyone who is interested in or enthusiastic about art and craft, regardless of their year level or skill level. Throughout the semester, we’ve hosted themed activities and provided a variety of materials and equipment for self-directed sessions. On Harmony Day, club members explored traditional Chinese calligraphy and ink drawing using ink, calligraphy pens, and brushes. Students were also introduced to observational drawing, water colour painting, and a range of exercises that allowed them to practice their artistic skills and grow as creatives.
We have had a great turnout throughout the semester, with students from all year levels participating in the activities. We now have many regulars who consistently attend each week, excited to work on their art pieces, along with new faces who drop in to explore their interest in art.
Many VCE Art Creative Practice students have used this time to develop their folios and seek feedback from peers and teachers. For the remainder of the year, we will continue to open our doors in Room D5 every Tuesday during lunchtime. We invite students to come in, connect with like-minded peers, learn new techniques, explore their artistic interests and make art together
