Year 12 – Careers Information

Year 12 students should be viewing the Year 12 Teams (Careers) platform where the following information has been sent.

  • Open Days – July to September 2025 for universities, TAFE institutions and private providers.

  • Early Offer Schemes and application process – universities – for 2026

  • Year 12 VTAC Guide – an overview of the VTAC (university and TAFE) application process commencing 4/8/25 for 2026 start.

  • Key Dates for the application process during 2025 for 2026 start.

It is important that students continue to view the platform daily during Term 3 as there will be lots of information shared and advice for the application process. Support sessions for all students applying to university, TAFE, private providers, apprenticeships/traineeships, Police Force and Defence Force will be provided during this term.  Sessions will be held during lunch periods and after school in C3 classroom.

If parents/guardians would like to attend a one-on-one application session with their child, this can be arranged and will be held between Monday 4/8/25 to Friday 19/9/25.  Please email Karen Crawley at Karen.Crawley@education.vic.gov.au to arrange a day/time.

Year 11 – Careers Information

Year 11 students have completed their Career Action Plan – I Decide. Any student who did not complete a Career Action Plan please see Mrs. Crawley in C3s.  Year 11 students are encouraged to attend Open Days for universities and TAFE institutes to assist with their course preferences.

Year 10 – Careers Sessions

Year 10 students will complete their Career Action Plan – I Plan sessions, during the first week of Semester 2 in July to focus on Career choices with Mrs. Lentowicz and Mrs. Crawley.

During the Year 10 Level Up Day, Mrs. Crawley presented students with information about the programs available during your child’s final years of study in secondary education (VCE, VCE VM, VET and Headstart) and their relationship to post-secondary pathway/career study options.  All students were given a “Where to Now” guide issued by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority, that supports the presentation made. Please find below a link to a digital copy.

Did you miss Mrs. McKeon’s information session at Level Up Day about the compulsory Work Experience Program for Year 10 students later this year? If so, please visit the Careers Centre for your hard copy paperwork and student information pack. Mrs. McKeon will be running lunchtime support sessions to assist students to complete their mandatory 2 x Safe@Work Learning Modules on Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunchtime in C3. Please keep an eye on the Student Bulletin for more information or speak with Mrs. McKeon in the Careers Centre.

White Card Training (Building and Construction Industry OHS Mandatory Requirement)

Are you planning to complete work experience or gain work on a building and construction site? Then you will require a White Card. During Term 3 a training provider has been organised to visit the College to facilitate the training in time for the Year 10 Work Experience Program. Places will be limited so if you require this training for your work experience or future pathway please register your interest with Mrs McKeon in the Careers Centre.

Year 9 Morrisby Interviews (My Career Insights)

Year 9 Morrisby Interviews were held during the last week of Term 2 for year 9 students who completed their profile. During these sessions students met with a Careers Consultant from the Careers Education Association of Victoria who are familiar with Morrisby and were able to have their results explained to them in detail, this included being able to explore their pathway options and become familiar with this online resource. Thereafter, students can then use this online site for further career exploration/development.  Note, there is still an additional interview day early Term 3 prior to course counselling.  The timing of these interviews will complement course counselling early Term 3. If your child has not yet completed their profile and/or would like to participate in an interview, please contact Mrs. Madeleine McKeon (Madeleine.McKeon@education.vic.gov.au) who will assist you.

Year 8 – Careers Sessions

Year 8 Careers counselling sessions have now concluded.  Students have completed a Career Action Plan – I Explore in a class setting with Mrs Duhau.  Any student who has not completed a Career Action Plan during Semester 1, will be followed up during early Semester 2.

Years 7– Careers Sessions

Year 7 Careers counselling sessions (developing a Career Action Plan – I Discover) have commenced with lots of positive feedback. These sessions will continue during term 3.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) in 2026

If your child is going to select VCE VM for 2026, they will be required to select a VET course as an integral part of that program.  VET courses currently held this year can be viewed on the school’s website (Curriculum, VET).  However, please be aware there may be changes when the updated lists are available from the providers later in the year.  Therefore, it is a good idea to select at least three courses in order of preference.

If your child is in years 10 or 11 for 2026 and interested in undertaking a VET course as part of their senior year’s educational program, please view the link on the school website as mentioned above.  The VET course (first year) is equivalent to completing a VCE subject at unit 1 and 2 level. Note, students in year 10 are not permitted to select a VET course at Chisholm (this is a notification Chisholm has sent to all schools).

There is no charge for a VET course, other than the purchase of some materials or PPE.

Students wanting to undertake a VET course will need to register for a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number.  Please see the link below for information and registration.
