Year 9

'Connection to self, school & community'

As we wrap up another busy and rewarding term 2, we’d like to extend a sincere thank you to all our year 9 students for their positive attitude. It’s been wonderful to see so many students enthusiastically participating in homegroup challenges and giving their all on Athletics Day. We also want to acknowledge and appreciate their ongoing commitment to upholding the school uniform policy — a reflection of the pride they take in being part of our school community. Well done Year 9!

Celebrating Success!

Congratulations to Charli Heib for graduating the Operation Newstart Program! Charli Graduated with 100% Operation Newstart and 100% School attendance. In the program, Charli focused on a number of themes, including teamwork, resilience, gratitude and success. She completed a ‘Change’ project, resume and presented a speech at the graduation ceremony. The Year 9 Team is very proud of Charli’s achievements, well done!

Programs and events

Year 9 mentor program

On Thursdays, the Year 9 Mentor students have been holding a lunchtime games session for the year 7s. This is a chance for the year 7s to get to know some of our year 9 student mentors and participate in some fun social activities. The year 9s have been enjoying creating a positive and welcoming environment for our year 7 students.

Year 9 Homegroup Competition “Challenge Wednesdays”

Our Year 9 Homegroup Competition for Term 2 was Challenge Wednesdays. Every Wednesday morning, one student in each Homegroup took on a fun, physical challenge to earn points for their homegroup.

The winner of the Term 2 Homegroup Challenge was: 9G!

Congratulations to 9G, they will be able to choose between a delicious pancake breakfast or a sizzling lunchtime sausage sizzle.

Borrowing of sporting equipment at break times (Year level offices)

From now on, borrowing sports equipment (such as balls, bats, etc.) will no longer occur at the PE Office or Foyer. Year 9s can visit C1s to borrow equipment.

Course Counselling

Towards the end of term, the year 9 team held a Course Counselling Assembly, to inform students of the process of course counselling and the pathways that will be available to them as they move into senior school. Year 9s also participated in a Morrisby interview with a trained representative from the Morrisby My Career Insights Program. During the session students had their results explained to them in detail to explore their pathway options.

In year 10, students must complete English and Maths, as well as choose a Humanities, Arts and Technology, Sport/PE and Science elective. The remaining four electives are student choice. It is important that year 9s start to think about the subjects that they would like to take in year 10, so that they are prepared for their Course Counselling meeting in term 3.

Green Chronicles

A reminder that students can cash in their green chronicles for amazing rewards!
