From the Principal

Dear Families,

Welcome Back to Term 3!

We are delighted to welcome all our students and families back for what promises to be a vibrant and exciting Term 3 at St Liborius. We hope the holiday break provided time for rest, connection, and renewal.

This term brings many opportunities for learning, celebration, and community connection. Below are just a few highlights to look forward to:

Whole School Production – The Wizard of Oz

Get ready to be whisked away to Kansas and beyond! Our whole school production of The Wizard of Oz is fast approaching and will take place in Week 3, on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th August. Students and staff have been working incredibly hard behind the scenes to bring this magical story to life on stage. Tickets are now available via the school office – we encourage all families to secure theirs soon for what is sure to be a memorable event.

Student Reports & Goal Setting Meetings

A reminder that Semester One student reports were made available on PAM at the end of last term. Over the next two weeks, we will be holding our Student Goal Setting meetings. These sessions offer a valuable opportunity for students, families, and teachers to reflect on progress and set meaningful learning goals for the term ahead. Families are encouraged to book a time via PAM if they have not already done so.

NAPLAN Results for Years 3 and 5

Families of students in Years 3 and 5 will receive their child’s NAPLAN results this week. At St Liborius, we recognise that student growth and achievement are demonstrated in many different ways. NAPLAN provides one piece of the broader puzzle, offering useful insights that sit alongside day-to-day classroom assessments and teacher observations.

A NAPLAN Information Brochure for Parents and Carers is included below in this newsletter and is also available in multiple languages on the VCAA website, accessible via the link below.

Staffing Updates

We are pleased to welcome back Mrs Elise Ash from leave. Mrs Ash will be joining our dedicated Year 5/6 teaching team, and we are thrilled to have her return to the St Liborius community.

We also wish to inform families of a temporary change to our Physical Education program. Mr Travis Ledwidge will be taking a period of leave this term for health reasons. During this time, Ms Ashlee Polinelli will be teaching PE across the school. Our thoughts and prayers are with Travis for his recovery, and we look forward to welcoming him back as soon as possible.

St Liborius Feast Day

This Wednesday, we celebrate St Liborius Feast Day! On this day, our school comes together in a whole-school liturgy to celebrate our faith and community.

While we gather in prayer here at St Liborius, in Paderborn, Germany - where the relics of St Liborius are held - the local community will commence the Libori Festival. This 9-day festival commemorates the arrival of St Liborius’ relics in the year 836 from Le Mans, France, where he had served as Bishop for 49 years prior to his death.

We are excited to share that Fr Stephen Bolling and Bishop Shane Mackinlay will be in Paderborn for this celebration. We wish them a safe and wonderful journey!

Classroom Mastery Routines

Following our Knowledge Society – Classroom Mastery professional learning day that took place in Term 2, we are about to introduce several new routines across the school day. These routines are designed to provide students with greater consistency and clarity in our processes, allowing them to focus more fully on their learning. Our Cue to Start, routine will be first, followed by Entry and Exit routines. Please ask your children to tell you all about these routines as they are introduced.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. We look forward to a wonderful term of learning and growth ahead!

With many blessings,

Alannah Darmody
