Hello from our students and teachers
Respect, Responsibility and Kindness
Our class has had a VERY busy term!
We enjoyed Jets Gym where we got to develop our gymnastic skills on the trampoline, ropes, balance beams, high bars and the mats.
Gardening
We have been digging, planting, weeding and investigating. Daniel shared his bee hive with us and we got to look at some honeycomb and spin the frames in the extractor to get the honey. We even got to taste it!
Maths
We have been exploring numbers in a variety of ways. We can subitise using our eyes to see how many items there are without counting one by one, play lots of games using cards and dice. Here are some photos of us showing how to represent a given number using different materials:
We have also been learning how to ask and record answers to a question using tally marks. On Wednesday we put our results on a graph and then tallied up. Did you know that most people in our room have brown eyes. The second most popular eye colour is blue and we only have 2 people with green eyes and only 1 person with hazel eyes.
Literacy
We have enjoyed sharing stories and learning new letters, sounds, and words. Here is a sample of our writing about the story 'Kitty Cat and Fat Cat' by Annette Smith:
School Wide Positive Behaviour Supports (SWPBS)
This term we have been focussing on our School Value - Responsibility. In class our aim is to follow instructions and do things 'first time, every time'. Mrs Q and adults in the school can give us stickers o our chart when they notice us being responsible and when we reach 20 stickers we get a reward like free time, extra time with a friend or even eating lunch with Mrs Q.
The following people have celebrated after receiving 20 stickers in our room: Noah, Annabelle, Lily, Mae, Hannah, Thomas, Indie, Atlas, Ollie, Lochlan, Evelyn, Bella, Matheo, Dorian and Kobe. We also have a Classroom Reward Jar and when we get 30 stickers in it we get to have a whole class reward and put a puzzle piece up on our whole school reward puzzle. We have already filled our jar once and got to have 10 minutes extra play outside on the playground!
