Principal's Message

Off on a learning adventure!
Over the last week I had the privilege of spending three days in Melbourne for professional learning — an invaluable opportunity to ensure our school is moving in the right direction.
Two days were spent with Dr Nathaniel Swan, focusing on ‘Excellence in Instruction’ and aligning with the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) 2.0. It was affirming to see how our current work—through the Momentum project with LaTrobe University, UFLI, Talk for Writing and Word Origins—reflects best practice and positions us well for this transition which all Victorian schools will be making over the next couple of years.
On Friday, I attended the first face-to-face principal day of the Primary Mathematics and Science Specialists (PMSS) program, run by DET. This program aims to build leadership in mathematics and support specialist teaching in primary schools, closely aligning with the learning from Dr Swan’s sessions.
While it’s essential for me to stay up to date, being away from school is never without its challenges. Thank you to our wonderful staff for keeping everything running smoothly, and a special thanks to Candice Nyman for expertly leading in my absence.
I look forward to bringing these insights back to our school as we continue our journey of excellence together.
Celebrating Outstanding Growth in NAPLAN Writing Results!
We are thrilled to announce the release of our 2025 NAPLAN Writing results, which show outstanding achievement by our students!
In Year 3, an impressive 77% of students achieved a strong or exceeding proficiency level in writing. In Year 5, 59% of students reached this high standard. This is a significant and further improvement on last year’s results.
These fantastic results reflect the dedication and expertise of our teachers and support staff, who have worked tirelessly to implement evidence-based writing instruction across our school. Congratulations to our students and staff on this excellent achievement—we are so proud of your hard work and commitment!
Student Support Group Meetings and Individual Education Plans
Next week sees the beginning of our Student Support Group Meetings for Term Two and hence the sharing of our students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs). If your child currently has an IEP you can expect your child’s teacher to get in touch with you prior to the end of term to discuss their progress and share their new plan in preparation for Term Three. Typically students have IEPs if they are working 6 months below the expected standard with no growth, 12 months below the standard with growth, 18 months above the standard and require further extension, and/or students receiving support/adjustments in the classroom.
Thank You Parents and Friends for an Awesome School Disco!
A huge thank you to our wonderful Parents and Friends group for organising an amazing school disco last Saturday! Our students had a fantastic time dressing up and showing off their glow gear on the dance floor. The night was filled with fun, laughter, and great music. We truly appreciate all the hard work and effort from the P&F—our students absolutely loved it!
Prep Transition Program for 2026 Preps – Starting Term Three!
We are excited to announce that our Prep Transition Program for 2026 Preps will begin in Term Three! This program is a wonderful opportunity for children and families to get to know our school and prepare for a smooth start to their primary years.

Parent Teacher Interviews
If you haven’t already please get into Compass and book in a time to meet with your child’s teacher regarding their Semester One Report and their learning progress. It is important to us that all families have a parent attend.
See you around our place,
