Week 10 Term 2
Mathematics Learning Across the School
This term, students across all stages have been exploring different areas of measurement in Mathematics.
- Early Stage 1 students have been learning about Time, focusing on days of the week, sequencing events, and using everyday language to describe time.
- Stage 1 has been investigating Length, comparing and ordering objects using informal and formal units of measurement.
- Stage 2 is developing an understanding of Area, learning how to measure and compare surface space using square units.
- Stage 3 is revisiting and extending their understanding of Length, applying strategies to estimate, measure and calculate distances with accuracy.
Each of these topics plays a vital role in helping students make sense of the world around them. Learning to tell time helps young learners organise their daily routines and understand the concept of past, present and future. Exploring length and area builds important spatial and problem-solving skills, supporting tasks like comparing distances, planning spaces, and interpreting maps. As students progress, they apply these skills in more complex ways, laying the foundation for confident and capable mathematical thinking in real-life contexts.
🎉 Celebrating 100 Days of Learning in Kindergarten! 🎉
Our early stage 1 class has reached an exciting milestone—100 days of learning! To commemorate this achievement, we held a special celebration filled with fun activities and memorable moment including our class party with yummy treats & the Mini Vinnie's PJ day!
Preschool Students Visit SMOTA
Last Friday 27th June, we had a fantastic time welcoming our preschool friends for a special visit to our primary school! The day was filled with smiles, curiosity, and excitement as the little learners explored the Stage 3 classroom and joined in fun activities with our students. We can’t wait to see some of these bright young faces again!
